A' Famosa
A'Famosa is one of the oldest surviving remnants of European architecture in Asia. Once part of a mighty fortress, this tiny gate (called the Porta de Santiago) is all that history has spared.
In the 16th century A'Famosa housed the entire Portuguese administration, including its hospitals, five churches, elongated stockades and four key towers. The fort was expanded in 1586 to accommodate Malacca’s growing population.
